Description

In honor of Autism Awareness Month, all of our ABA apps will be FREE for the entire month of April.

A national report in the Journal of Pediatrics reveals that 1 percent of US children ages 3 - 17 have an Autism Spectrum Disorder, an estimated prevalence of one in every 91 children. This is a dramatic increase from the 1 in 150 prevalences previously reported.

Visit us at www.kindergarten.com to learn more about ABA therapy and our applications.

Problem Solving is an important skill that should be learned early in life. Our “Which Does Not Belong” application will teach your child to discriminate which items do not belong in a group as well as introduce them to the negative form “not” which takes some expanded thinking.

What skill could possibly be more useful then problem solving? Of all the valuable skills your child learns at school, problem solving should be number one. At Kindergarten.com we have developed a number of fun Problem Solving applications to help young children develop these skills before they even start Kindergarten. These applications encourage creative problem solving, discrimination and reasoning skills.

Our “Which Does Not Belong” application was seamlessly created using 120 superb, concrete, colorful images that are of high interest to both visual and auditory learners. Your child will be shown 4 objects at a time and asked to identify the one that does not belong in many different combinations.

By adding clearly pronounced audio we are able to offer verbal praise to reward and reinforce your child’s appropriate responses as well as encourage vocal imitation.

Classical music is randomly played along with visual reinforcement to maintain your child’s interested while introducing them to the world’s most popular composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.

Top features of our applications:

- Clear, Colorful, Concrete Images

- Benefits to both Visual and Auditory Learners

- Classical Music with Visual Reinforcement

- Sound can be turned “on” or “off”

- Concisely Pronounced Audio

To view our complete portfolio of our applications please visit us at www.kindergarten.com.

At Kindergarten.com we provide a wide range of early childhood applications using behavioral techniques that are based on the principals of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) using a Verbal Behavior (VB) technique. ABA has been scientifically proven to be effective in teaching academic, language and communication skills to typically developing children as well as those with special needs or developmental delays such as Speech or Language Delays, Dyslexia, Hearing Loss, ADD/ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism, Dyspraxia, and PDD-NOS.

Speech-Language Pathologist (MS, CCC-SLP)

:
I LOVE THIS APP! It is one of my most used apps for my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students with expressive language impairments (so it is not just for kids with Autism!). I make it into an expressive language task by having my students verbalize the answer before they tap the correct picture. I LOVE that the iPad verblizes the reason after the correct picture is tapped (I wish it did this in What Goes Together, because I love that app also!). The students listen carefully to see if what they said matches what the iPad voice says.

Great photos. Excellent voice! Challenging vocabulary. My students love the random (surprise) music reinforcement.

I would give it 5 stars if it had more user control. You can't move back or skip cards. It moves to the next card too quickly. As a therapeutic tool, I would like to discuss it before moving to the next set of pictures.

Some answers are up for debate

:
Several of the challenges have multiple right answers but the app will only give credit for one. 3 kids in stripes, 1 in solid but also 3 boys and 1 girl but also 3 holding something and 1 not. Which is the right answer? More questions like this too.

3/5 stars

Good,just needs tweaking

:
I have been enjoying this app with a couple of my preschool clients for speech therapy. I use this, as well as a few of your others apps, and find them useful.

BUT I really wish the page did not automatically turn to the next page once the correct answer is chosen. On multiple occasions I feel the need to discuss the pictures and WHY the answer is what it is, but the page is gone before I have a chance. The ability to discuss the answer along with why's and why not's is an important therapy/learning tool.

The bouncing silver ball is a nice reward but it could stay present slightly longer. By the time I hand my iPad to the child to play, the ball disappears in just seconds.

I like that the voice states specifically why something does not belong. Some pages are a little confusing with multiple options for what does not belong. For instance, the page where the answer is the owl,the snake could also be an answer because it is the only one without feet. I'm not saying you should change it but (a) you should be aware of it, and (b) this is just one of many reasons I would like the page to stay static longer so I can review other possibilities with the child.
